Searching Poem by Kalee Skriver

Searching

A shadow is cast upon a wooden wall,
I turn around and see nothing at all.
I keep looking, searching to find your face,
but all I can see is an empty bookcase.
'Where are you? ' I scream
'Why aren't you here? '
I spin around but all I feel is fear
In desperation I peruse outside,
But I don't remember where you like to hide.
I'm at wits end, I start to dream,
Of shadows cast upon a standing beam.
There you are! But no your not...
Am I getting closer,
Am I getting hot?
But then I stop within my tracks,
I remember now why we are not a pack.
I hang my head and start to cry,
Then I tilt my head up to the sky.
'I miss you' I whisper into the clouds,
As I lie myself upon the ground.
My baby is gone, now so shall I,
Wait my turn until its time to die.
