Searching Poem by Jose A. Carmona

Searching

We walk these silent paths
kicking the wrestling autumn leaves

falling

to the ground of a fortunate cool

morning.

We walk in silence
listening

to our breaths waking our solitude.

We are two lonely islands
claimed by mistaken conquerors
But still...

longing

to belong to distant ports
or to be mastered by strangers

without daring

to confess to one another.

Why do we hide from a truth
that burns in our hearts
as fire envelops vast forests?

For we are not in love
but rather anchored to our memories
of desolate beaches
of paths we've walked before

searching.
