Searching. Poem by Ashley Nichol

I was searching for a friend or more,
someone to set me free,
to give all this love inside,
someone worthy to receive.
Thought I had it right at times,
but of course,
again I was wrong,
but,
I never gave up,
theres someone for me,
that wont just string me along.
I believe in love and happiness,
it takes time,
I know thats true,
I pray and pray, 'Lord please send me someone'
and one day he sent me you.
Youre everything I could ever want,
all that I will ever need,
my friend, my friend, my very special friend,
our friendship cannot be copied.
This feeling you placed inside of me,
like magic in my soul,
your friendship wrapped all around me,
to make my life feel whole.
I am grateful for the time we spend,
the way you make me feeel,
I used to see you in my dreams,
but I know now that you are real.
Ive never had a friend like you,
that just takes my breath away,
the more I think of you,
the more I think I want to stay.
I built this wall around my heart,
to keep pain out, and love in,
its slowly tumbling down,
but not quite ready to try again.
When I look into your eyes, my dear,
I can see what youre going through,
It'll be okay babe, just lean on me,
soon youll bid those problem adieu.
Maybe one of these days,
well both be happy as weve ever been,
ready to open up our hearts,
or maybe well be just friends.
I would love for us to be together,
but who know what the future holds,
to be lovers or to be friends,
either one, to the highest I will uphold.
