Second Chance Poem by Stuart Doggett

Second Chance

Red rimmed and lidless eyes
Staring blankly in their surprise,
Deception long suspected
Appears from beneath its disguise.

I know what I did to you,
It lives inside my mind,
I know what I did to you,
It eats me up inside.

(I beg for)
Light to invade the umbrellas shade
And drops of fire to fall like rain,
A path of stunning radiance
To lead me back up to the sun again.

Dimmed lights flare to bright
Piercing all along its flight,
Open hand falls empty
From walls sealing out the night.

I know what I did to you
And I know I shouldn’t ask,
I know what I did to you
But will you give me another chance?

(I beg for)
Light to invade the umbrellas shade
And drops of fire to fall like rain,
A path of stunning radiance
To lead me back up to the sun again.

I know what I did to you,
I can never take it back,
Despite what I did to you
Will you take me back?

Light invades the umbrellas shade
And drops of fire fall like rain,
A path of stunning radiance
To lead me back up to the sun again.
