See What Shines - Poem by Frankie Renae

lightning shines
when the trees of karma crack
and there are roots
I'm sure you watch the stars
at your back
and stand in boots, sleek & black

chorus:
but is it only when the clouds come in
you watch the stars now, do you see them
I'm sure you're lookin' the wrong way
'cause she's got the words of an angel
wrapping all around her tongue
knows them with ease,
doesn't see that the leaves and
time lay young beneath them

ooh, girl
take them boots and upshine off
dance with a boy
a little loft the beat
in bare feet
and stand in the clouds, staring
at big bright stars

'cause it is only when the clouds come in
you watch the stars now, do you see them
I'm sure you're lookin' the wrong way
'cause she's got the words of an angel
she'll get all around her tongue
know them with ease,
doesn't see that the leaves and
time lay young beneath them

I'm so sure
that her words are true angels
you watch her for
the cure and your next move
she's the world
and so you follow her curve
noticing time

I hope you notice fine
that the stars were made another way
'cause they didn't make you
and they didn't make the day
they just shine as they're meant to
and that's just fine

Chorus

a breath beneath them and time
us. so young
