Seeing Life Within Life Poem by Daniel Peter Jones

Seeing Life Within Life

The comparisons of life in life;
Black veins of Oak
Capillaries of Wood;
Stretching, reaching, occupying
Space, singing in the breath,
The wind

A heart beat, rolls along
The railway lines, distant
Rhythm, pounding to the
Song of swallows, dancing
From vein to vein
As if a synapse is activating

Orange blood leaks, the
Pounding beat, a distant
Song, brown crisp feathers
Fall, dying, as if cells are
Being replaced

The blood, clots, hardening,
Darker now, upon its
Wooden leg, it blocks the open wound,
crisp feathers still fall
The heart still beats
The synapse activating
