Self Control Poem by John Richey

Self Control

Rating: 2.7

The feeling of fear, as it rushes through you..
Knowing you can’t stop your intolerable behavior…

No way out, no way to escape the helplessness.
Having to muster the ever draining strength, all that’s remaining..
To make yourself the whole person you desire to be…

Never to fully conquer the feeling of desperation, to only put it aside for now..
It attempts to take over your soul.. And use only emotion, the stimulated emotion..
Wanting to overpower your sense of control, what you have left…
Though you fight, battle with everything you got, to try to stay normal..

Knowing that you’ll never be the same as everyone…
You fight diligently all the time, which is your being.
Nonetheless, most others do not suffer your corrupted feelings..

Always waging battle, and only you! To be there to heed its call…
Knowing, in the end, how different you are… the aura that is only yours.
