Separation Denied Poem by La Tonya Davis

Separation Denied

How many people can tell you they've reunited with their first loved?
The chance of a life-time coming to you from above.
Not knowing where and when to accept it,
but having the courage to embrace it.

Having that person back into your life,
hoping and tring to make things right.
Noticing what created the distance in the first place,
but praying to God everytime you see their face.

Just being around them satisfies you,
no matter where they might be,
or what they might do,
the only thing that's on your mind is
where will you go from here.

You look at them, they look at you,
your souls touch and connect and for a moment
you forget what separated you in the first place,
you remembered what both of you wanted,
why you've longed for each other for so long.

And before you know it, the memory of yesterday;
and the presence of now grows stronger.
You close your eyes and pray to the Lord 'Please, just a little bit longer.'
