Set You Free Poem by Adelina Amare

Set You Free

Rating: 5.0

I have trapped you in between these sheets of paper
So you can be read through the voice of my narrator;
So that all you are can be thrown into something new.
What madness I have thrown you into.
But I need to set you free.
How can I set you free?

I have locked you in my room
So I can sit here and read you
Like an open book that would rather be closed.
I should have waited until you were ready to bloom, red rose.
Instead I pried open your soul like it was a parcel.
How could I ruin your heart of gold?
I cannot set you free.
How do I set you free?

I have caged you in my soul, for you are the muse for my poetry and prose,
And for that reason I must keep you close.
Now they read me and find you.
They can see you reflected in my eyes of blue.
I need to set you free.
How do I set you free?

I have thrown you into the storm of madness that is my mind
So I can make you into an insanity of my own design.
But all I want to do is make you normal again.
I wish to put this all to an end,
But how can I set you free?
I need to set you free.
I cannot continue to put you through this,
So tell me how to set you free, and I will do it.
