From the womb of the dawn
You brought me into this world
With much pain, you groaned
Such strain, you endured.
My cries brought you joy
My smiles made you cry.
In time, I grew
Like a rose petal, I blossomed
You tried to shield me from the bees
Like an unyielding windstorm
I resisted your hands.
My love for you cannot be denied
I am from you
But am not you
I have to find my path
Like a bird, I have to learn to find my flight
I have wings, I was meant to fly
I don't want you to cry
But be happy
Knowing that on the path to finding our differences
We will become closer than ever
Your daughter
My mother
Together we will be
If you let me be.
