Shabdeez Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Shabdeez

Shabdeez

Shabdeez was name of horse
It belonged to hero…

Hero was the prince,
Much in love with Shireen.

Shireen was gorgeous girl,
Many men wanted her.

One of them was Farhad,
The stones he cut, carved.

His carvings are still
Near the Kermanshah…

The prince was Khosrow,
Wrote of him Ganjavi…

Shabdeez is meaningful,
"Black like a dark night."

Nights before Edison,
Got no light from bulbs.

And they were pitch black,
Moon shined like Queen Bee,
Hard workers were stars.

They blinked all the time,
Kept playing hopscotch.

I saw them in village,
Also, in the Nimrooz,
Inside Afghanistan…

Wish it was as before,
Not today with stars
Far from naked eyes.

Today's life looks like war,
We suffer for wrong cause!
