You feel it coming closer
Heart pounding, ears ringing
Closing in, shadows loom
Obscuring your view

Lingers in the background
Steaming breath on your neck
Tingling chill down your spine
Goosebumps bristle

Yet such a pleasant feeling
Delightful
Engaging, such a new feeling
There is someone who cares.

Nightmarish
A creature in the night
Watching you, waiting
Silent threat brings much fright

A guardian demon
Eats you away
Never leaves your side
Never leaves you alone

Wretched anguish
Overbearing weight
Dragging you down
To a shallow grave
