Shadows And Sunlight Poem by Mark. A Heathcote

Shadows And Sunlight

I've got blood in my veins.
As old as these mountain lakes
I've got boulders in my heart and soul.
But I still swim and roll everywhere.
With nowhere to go
So, I return, don't you know?

I swear there's nothing but beauty.
Two ravens are making a raucous noise.
Boisterous as the first light at heaven's gate
Don't you know, don't you know
I've got blood in my veins.
As old as the Earth,
And it's full of sorrow and mirth.

It's full of love and smoking firewood.

That wants to burst into living flames
And blaze without any chains.
I've got blood in my veins.
As old as the water in the river
Rushing to connect with every silt, stone,
Boulder and a grain of sand
Just to run, darling, through your hand.
And find a home in your shadows and sunlight.

I've got blood in my veins.
Like a canyon echo
It's known that wolves tremble with fear and lust.
And yet, enough is never enough.
When I love every pimple and bone of your stature
I want to make mine ever after.
