Shadows Deep Poem by Megan Rae Adams ms

Shadows Deep

In shadows deep, where trust did fail
resentment blooms, betrayal there
words, like vines, once promising,
fair, now, thorns of lies
they pierce the air
from those who claimed to deeply care
but disappeared no longer there
their smiles, masks of false intent
left wounds unseen in hearts,
they rent.
oh bitter taste of shattered trust
in bounds once strong, now turned to dust
betrayed by those we hold so dear
their absence now, becoming clear
from this pain, yes, i might rise from the ashes
hope ensures but what's left in me?
so let resentment in, slowly drift away, please release
me release this chain! in forgiveness, I find some power, to bloom a new and favorite flower
