Shadows Of A Soul In Flight Poem by Austin Nginga

Shadows Of A Soul In Flight

Rating: 5.0

In shadows cast by dimmed lamplight,
A boy resides, a soul in flight,
With shifting moods, he weaves his tale,
An inner strife, a silent wail.

Within his heart, despair takes hold,
Anxiety, a story untold,
Yet outwardly, he dons a guise,
With feigned poise, he veils his cries.

With empathy, he seeks the best,
In each soul's core, a sacred quest,
Though trusting, he's betrayed in kind,
And suffers wounds of trust declined.

His spirit yearns to take the lead,
To be the one who's strong indeed,
Yet shackled by what men define,
His mental health in steep decline.

In stoic masks, he's tightly bound,
By norms of old, he's tightly wound,
A battle fought, both day and night,
A boy with scars, obscured from sight.

He lends a gentle, listening ear,
To others' woes, he holds them dear,
But deep within, his heart's confined,
By societal chains entwined.

He dreams of soaring to great height,
Ambitions fierce, like stars alight,
Yet fear, an ever-present weight,
He carries through each lonely gait.

His tears cascade through nights alone,
In shadows' embrace, he does bemoan,
His fragile heart, a heavy load,
In mental strife, his strength corrode.

So let this ode to Boy convey,
His struggles faced day after day,
With empathy, we shall implore,
To understand him even more
