Shall I Compare Thee To A Mid-Summer Day? Poem by Jeffrey Liminsang

Shall I Compare Thee To A Mid-Summer Day?

Shall I compare thee to a mid-summer day?
Thou art more pretty and more endless:
Rough winds do shake the beloved blossom of June,
And mid-summer hath all too short of a vitality:
Sometimes too humid for the eyes to glimpse,
And often its tin and gilt are fuzzy;
And from fair to fair its loveliness has decreased,
By chance or nature’s changing course is lost;
But thy unending splendour shall not weaken
Nor lose thy chattel on thy golden charm;
Nor shall thy deceased brag thou drift in its darkness,
When in eternal metre thou shine:
So long as humanity can breathe or eyes can see,
So long live this and this give life to thee
