Shame On Us Poem by sharon wischkaemper

Shame On Us

A collection of myths and legends,
written by men and women with imaginations that rival those
of the writers of Harry Potter or Game of Thrones.

Shame on us,
for the willful ignorance that allows the cherry picking
of ancient text to be used as justification for the demonetization of individuals based on their gender, their race, or their sexual orientation.

Shame on us,
religious delusion is one of the single most effective catalyst for the crucifixion of our logical, rational, and intelligent thoughts.
So much so, that our Presidential candidates are still debating
whether people who don't look, think, and act like us
should still be allowed to participate in the same institutions,
and be granted the same dissolution of marriage that everyone else is.
