Shape Shifter Poem by Rose Marie Cook

Shape Shifter

I float in the sky
Mighty and high
I soar through the trees
Feeling the cool breeze

I crouch in the jungle
Hunting my prey
I go under cover
Asking summer to stay

I wrap in my cocoon
I hatch hidden by the moon
I slither along the ground
Careful not to make a sound

I walk swiftly through the halls
No one sees, no one hears me but the walls
I lock myself up tight
I keep out the fretful nights

I change forms quickly
In the blink of an eye
I am the marvelous, mysterious wonder
I am a shape shifter
