A ray of sunshine
grace my life
in the darkest hours
through the loneliest nights

A smile of innocence
thaws my frozen heart
in a single moment
changes my whole life

A silent knowing look
from your wizened eyes
crushes the walls withing
freeing my imprisoned soul

A shout of sheer joy
pierces through my sorrow
casting it forever
giving me new breath

A gift of life
you have given me
though through me
I have given life to you
