Sharing Solitude Poem by NikMorgan ...

Sharing Solitude

Smiths on the stereo
A maudlin melody for a dark mood
He waits
Expecting nothing
Griped by boredom
He smokes too much
It keeps his hands busy
Savouring every chance to inhale
Like his drawing his last breath
That Friday feeling leaves him restless
Fretting a sunder
The CD skips
Morrissey stutters
He really is miserable now
Feeling lost
Trapped in a maze of his own making
He goes looking for release

Numbing alcohol
Conversation
A sympathy f**k
Any girl who is easy to find
Desperate people look to the eyes
Seclusion takes it’s toll
They both have baggage
Two well worn remnants of happier days
Security blankets
Using each other for comfort and warmth

The sex is frantic
Two passing shadows dancing in lunar light
Fleetingly close
Their bodies entwine in one movement
Till a raging river of pent emotion
Rushing them to sleep

With dawn comes anonymity
Awkward silences speak volumes
No time for numbers
No need for names
He’s not looking
Last night was just a memory
A tiny piece of collage from an empty life
