She chose
Not to be a breath of Eden in the land forsaken
But,
To be a drop of perfume in a poisoned chalice,
She chose,
Not to be the pulse in a poet's chest
But,
A sketch placed in collections of charms,
Where value meant price, not love
She chose,
Not the man who wrote his love in quite deeds
But,
A face crafted for mirrors not for hearts
At the end she chose
And his world cracked, not loudly but in the soft ache of surrender...
