She Has Come To Us Poem by Samuel Obono Jr

She Has Come To Us

She has come to us
in the wispers of the dry tornado
that sweeps through the hills
and valleys of our hearts
in the mares of our sleepless night
awaiting a blanketed sun
she has come to us
in the flight of a hundred birds
after the hunter's gun
in the beauty of the little fireflies at dusk
she has come
when all is lost to fate
and our souls
drowning in the rivers of hate
from the anguish of a bewildered past
with an occasion to cry- at last

she
who bears morning in her womb
and cries at labour
to the eavesdropping of the mountains
who echoes back
to the quickening of the wind
who tells the trees
to tell the birds
to tell the sky
to tell the sun
that shines on us
and all shall hear
the cries of promise
and when it comes forth
we shall remember not
Egypt

....To the Africa to come
we await you
with hope in our bellies
