I was sitting in a bar
Trying to drown a deep scar
The room was dimly lit
Hazy smoke hovered where I sit
In a corner across the way
A couple laughed, happiness on display
Jealousy oozed out of every pore
As they shuffled to the dance floor
The music played and they became one
Brought back memories I had undone
The closer they got
My stomach became a twisted knot
The woman looked a lot like my ex
Was the alcohol affecting the visual effects
Fooling my brain to think it was you
I lean to the side to get a better view
As they twirled round and round
I searched for a feeling that couldn’t be found
No matter how hard I try to bury you
I still find it sad I never got to marry you
Yes she looked a lot like you
The same glow of confidence showed through
How she looked so much like you
The full smile was like the one I once knew
But I didn’t want it to be the real you
It would only prove I didn’t have a clue
It’s not the first time I sensed a loose screw
I know every woman I dream of will look just like you
