Shed My Skin Poem by Nora Wardrip

Shed My Skin

Rating: 4.0

Maybe I treat you better
Than the girl you had before
That doesn't mean my soul
Is a lighter shade of black
I'm not a princess
I don't hold the bravery or grace of the title
I hurt and hate
Lie and steal
More than you even know
Crystal blue eyes hold secrets
You haven't looked deep enough
To see all of the demons
Your so-called Cinderella
Harbor within
Like a snake, I'll only be exposed
If I shed this first layer
The only one I have shown you
Tell me you love me all you want
But the feelings won't surpass the darkness
You have yet to meet
