Syd Barret was the psychedelic star
who sang and played spacey guitar
journeying high into the lunar void
the original soul of Pink Floyd.

Syd soared through the sixties trip
every mother considered him so hip
creating music to rake wake the blind
and man surely to blow the mind.

Just listen to see Emily play
have yourself rose flower coloured day
and see Emily's gown touch the ground
lets find yourself lost or found.

Syd blossomed in the summer of love
joss sticks, free love and peace dove
Pink Floyd was his brilliant band
stardoms reach rang close at hand.

Yet his trip ended with seventies scene
like the end of the sixties dream
mind blowing drugs had taken their toll
Syd lost his musical muses heady goal.

Shine on Roger Waters once proudly wrote
written in tribute sadness and hope
to his great friend and mused blues light
who left to take his final astral flight.

So Syd whats left unplugged to say
accept have yourself psychedelic day
just play see Emily play once again
and friends lets feel man the same.
