SHIPWRECK

I observed her on the sand
About a half a mile away,
She whispered come and visit me
Or so she seemed to say.

I smiled and thought I'd play along,
The salty air filled with her song.
No captain left to guide her,
No crew to man her sails or stand fast beside her.

A lonesome cadaver laying abandoned amidst the sands of time.
The storms she rode the waves that tossed,
Many a lady was this way lost,
The memories which have made her,
The grave this heartless sea had gave her.

The rotting of the timbers,
The creaking of the rivets and the hinges,
There is enchantment in the air,
This ladies spirit lingers.

The sea a serpent creature,
To crush and to engulf her,
To sting her with its lashing tail,
who broke and tore this women's sail.

Although you see her shattered body laying down to rest,
I can hear her spirit laughing loudly - out there -
UPON THE CREST......
