Shock Waves Poem by Susan Alldred Lugton

Shock Waves

The inner peace disrupted,
like a bullet exploding in the brain.
Denial broken through,
reality in its wake.
Hatred where once stood love,
curses flowing though the mind.

The outer world a refuge,
from inner torment so agonizing,
to the softness of the rain,
like tears that heal and cool,
and whispering green leaves
beckoning a future.
