Susei is mending shoes for 35 years,
On the planks of the pavement drainage
Under the polythene sheet roof
To meet the day's both ends.
Timely Susei is aged,
What's your children doing now?
Where's your wife?
Both hands become non-operative as such questions raised.
Mending shoes I taught them,
Nor are they hearing me now;
One foot on the death pit
Other on the floor earth
Son works at the Secretariat
Daughter in the Bank
Don't recognize me, going in cars
Josepine in the sick bed at the home hut
Another few more days; the life is impermanent
