Should I Judge You? Poem by Jessica Millsaps

Should I Judge You?

You tell me it's okay.
You lie.
You tell me you won't judge me
You lie

Should I judge you the way you judge me?
Should I? Can I? Do I know how?
Should I treat you the way you treat me?
Should I lie to you, like you lie to me?

If you say you won't do something can I trust you?
You judged me, on simple unknown facts.
Should I do the same?
Could I? I feel no beat in your chest, just empitness where a heart should be.

If I am to be judged, do it far away.
I will wait on the sea shore.
I shall wait peacefully for your unqualified grade
And then, I shall dance home dignified,

Should I judge you the way you judge me?
