Shut You Out Poem by Stephanie Donath

Shut You Out

When I opened the door
You were there
Holding up
A bundle of roses

But before you could step in
I slammed the door
In your face
Sat on the floor
Back against the wall
Wishing you didn't do this
Wanting to let you in
Trying to accept your apology
But unable too

I couldn't move
No not an inch
I froze like a statue
Not knowing what to do
Unaware of the sincere look
That was wiped away
Off of your face
When I shut you out
