Sign Poem by Shirley Harrison

Sign

A tsunami of profound grief
coming straight towards me
yet still...
it's not entirely in sight
I wait
I wait, with numbness
I wait with guilt
I wait with anger
and I also wait with hope
that it's over soon
which brings more guilt to my table of digestive nibbles and distaste
I shan't forget in a hurry
I promise you this
this one moment
that once again will change me
changing my life
my course
my road...

If the signs are kind
I may one day find my way once more.
