Silence Poem by Jackie Trujillo

Silence

the silence before the storm
the moment before the attack
I await the night with such promise
wishing and hopeing, but for what?

I wish only for you to leave my mind
so I might possibly move on
unless the chance for you and me i still there
I know the answer to the question I ask

the security of no, comforts my mind
but the not knowing of why re-opens the wound
will this answer finally help me
or will this end in regret

the silence I wait in is eroding my heart
and rightfully so, for the answer I long for
awaits in the shadow of the question to be asked
Silence, Why don't you like me?
