Silhouette Poem by France Tamaca

Silhouette

I lie here awake
Against your nakedness
Against your self-made principles
Against the world.
And it’s cold
Outside,
Where you are’s unknown
Where I am’s a mystery
Where we are’s a bliss
We’re hiding in a deep, passionate kiss
Of a getaway unplanned,
Of pure heaven,
Of a momentary oblivion..
That once was just an imagination
A wish,
Then a crave,
And then a dare
Of something we now share.
This could be enough.
Too less perhaps,
Or too much.
But there’s nothing like your touch,
Your stroke,
Your thrust and heave
Your unrivaled fire
Your young, animalistic desire.
Could it be?
That you, too, feel something for me?
For the girl behind these white cotton sheets
The girl that stood against the dark, yellow light
When all the while it’s just her silhouette that you see..
Babe, that’s not me.
That’s me playing cloak-and-dagger
That’s me saying it’s okay..
When it’s not.
Because what you’re giving is all you got..
For me.
One night,
One chance,
One break,
One fall.
And that is all.

Now, as you hold my hand
You as well hold my heart,
And my soul.
You smile and without you knowing, you took it all.
But you need not know.
No you don’t.
You can’t.
You won’t.
