Silhouettes Poem by Jay Kaminski

Silhouettes

Rather than a fortress, way up in the sky,
Give me your heart, and show me your mind.
'Stead of the sun, a' shining so bright,
I need the moon, to glow my delight.
Rather than clouds, a blockin' my sky,
Shoot me a star, up so very high.
'Stead of the wealth, that you very much need,
Give me your garden, plant, yes, my seed.
Rather than dancing, stomping my dreams,
Please be my light, my glimmer, my gleam.
My glitter my shine, and silhouette,
Your face in my mind, I'll never forget.

Longer than the silhouettes masking our gleam,
Gracing the ground, yet dashing our dream.
Of being the one, the only, the great,
trailing behind, grasping our traits.
And play them clever, so clear, so cun,
like dinglebodies dancing on rays of the sun.
A replica, a mocker, a sneaker, a sly,
A' tracin' your footsteps, one at a time.
We'll never be free, to being alone,
For we'll always be followed, always be cloned!
