Simple Injustice... Poem by Nissi Lunga

Simple Injustice...

SIMPLE INJUSTICE...

Instead of correcting, we laugh...
Just laugh...because someone's
confusion is our amusement.
What the other person feels,
has nothing to do with us,
we were only having fun.
Harmless fun...nothing to tip
over.

Then they justify...
'Don't be such a baby', they say.
'We do it to everyone' they say.
'Loosen up a bit', they say.
'It was just a joke', they say.

Then they get violent...
'It's not our fault you are sour! ', they yell
'It's a free country, we can laugh! ', they yell.
'We don't care, we wanna be happy! ', they yell.
'Fine, be that way! ', they yell.

But reverse the process...
you are being disrespectful,
you have no manners,
you are so terrible with timing,

It's better if you keep it to yourself,
apparently...being 'free' is a privilege
not everyone grants you.
