Simple Pleasures Poem by Mary Champion

Simple Pleasures

The delicate percussion
of the rustling leaves,
the soothing sussuration
of a temperate breeze,
the silver sound of birdsong
that lifts the troubled soul,
a warm spring day unfurling
has power to console.
Though brief maybe the respite
from the dreary daily grind,
the joy, while we possess it,
can soothe an anxious mind.
