Skies And Sea Poem by Victoria Rose

Skies And Sea

i raced through a thousand gardens
picking out the weeds
catching all the falling leaves
making strides through grass and trees
keeping going getting lost losing sleep

i slept on a thousand mossy rocks
waiting for you to come and race me to the end
where the forest meets the road
until you'd find me pulling ferns off their stems
and then i'd pull at you.

you crept through a thousand haunted faces in the crowd
you watched them watching you
while they were watching me
i watched them too
i listened for your eyes but it was too loud

i found you under a thousand blazing stars
staring me down straight to the gut
crossing over from you to me,
somewhere in between the skies and the sea
you found me
