Slamtime For Buddha Poem by Alonso Menendez

Slamtime For Buddha

I stand accused of sowing seeds of revolution
Against the institution
By preaching love as a solution
Against the mental pollution
And so the called me a criminal
Thought criminal
But the struggle is continual
So the message went subliminal
Far underground
Only to be found
By those ready to understand
The problems at hand

Voices yelling in my head
Sometimes I wish I was dead
Life is suffering and full of pain
Sorrows fall like drops of rain

But I believe we can fly
I believe if we try
We can fly
To the sky
Oh so high

Letting go it fades away
Life is a stage on which we play
We determine who we are
We are self-scripted each a star
If to this world you get tied down
To the material things of which abound
Then deep in sorrow doomed to drown

Eventually the piper gets paid
Suckers lose, players get played
If not now, then in the next life
Karma always pays back strife

There is no mercy for the cruel
To hate violence adds only fuel
And in the end when all is done
The final truth is all is one

If we'd only open up our eyes
It's all we need to realize
It's a veil of illusion that does deceive
Our lives are what we conceive
We choose to be happy, we choose to be sad
We choose to be good, we choose to be bad
We get as good as what we gave
Our acts not religion is what shall save

So now it's time to beat the man
Time we defeat the plan
And make life be what so dearly we hold
Instead of those things that are bought and sold
Living together as brother and sister
Standing as one against the mister
End these days of dollar an hour n#$$*r
Because our hopes and dreams are far bigger
Break the bonds of economic slavery
No more soul robbing capitalistic knavery

But I'm not talking about a revolution
It's time we had an evolution
Don't fall in the trap and play the game again
Grow beyond and transcend
And in that way be the agent of change
Bringing back into balance as we rearrange
That when ends Shiva's dance
We don't waste our final chance
For if not now then when our days are done
If not in life the in death all show be one

So now has finally come the hour
For the people to rise up and take back the power
And start to believe in one another
Instead of the illusion of big brother
