Sleep Debt Poem by Liam O'Brien

Sleep Debt

My pity on he who tries to cheat the Dreamwalker,
For a jealous lender he is.
My pity on she who tries to cheat the Dreamwalker,
For he always receives his due.
My pity on those who evade his collector.
The Sandman, that role is his.
For that releases the enforcer, the Reaper.
Sleep eternal, bid all debts 'Adieu'.
