Sleeping Children Poem by Gloraly Gomez

Sleeping Children

</>Sleeping children wake with fright
In the middle of the night
Hearing things that don't seem right
The little girl shakes her head
And returns back to the bed
Still she hears words being said
Loudly, she calls out to her mother
Who then wakes up her snoring father
And soon after, comes her brother
'What is it? What is wrong? '
Then her mother hears the song
That's been repeated for so long
Her little children live no longer
'Cause the monster quenched his hunger
Now he seems to be much stronger
In a different place that's far
This monster that looks so bizarre
Seeks to leave another scar
Sleeping children wake with sweat
With their foreheads fully wet
Feeling like there is a threat...
