Sleeping Through Reality - Poem by D.M. Barber

ring ring who could it be
calling at this time
is there an emergancy
or is it just my mind

i can not seem to help myself
reaching for the phone
as it stops i do awake
hear nothing like the tone

it was in my head
i had no phone
there is nothing now im dead

i lost my mind
i lost my soul
i lost my self esteem
for now im dead but soon to wake
for it was just a dream
