Slow Down Poem by Ruby Dodd

Slow Down

Life never seems to go like we plan
There are hurdles we find on the way
And the cold winds of life blow hard and blow strong
As we scurry along every day

We never take time to look at the sky
And never a rose do we see
Cause we're very busy just making sure
That you don't have much more then me

We promise ourselves that we'll slow down one day
See the ocean, catch fish in a stream
And just as we think we're finding a way
Life hands a hurdle it seems

How high can you jump can you clear everyone
The question is always at hand
And if you should fall as you scurry along
Will you be on your feet when you land

My friend you must know as you scurry on past
I'm glad that you're you and not me
I'm glad that something made me slow down
Take time look around me and see

Theres roses to smell and tall trees abound
There's green grass and skies that are blue
There's sunshine and laughter and gay songs to sing
There's millions of pleasures for you

So, take time my friend, look around as you run
There's happiness waiting for you
Slow down, l ive a little, you won't miss a thing
But the hurdle that's waiting for you

lear everyoneg the way
Life hands us a hurdle it seems

How high can you jump can
