Smiles And Mirth Of Pain Poem by Newton Mbuyu Ratego

Smiles And Mirth Of Pain

Rating: 5.0

Just as there are tears of joy, there too are smiles of sorrow and laughter of agony.

It is always not factual that it is only the cheerful or good things that tickle us to laughter or smile,
It is not even only the hilarious or even funniest of things that drive us to chuckle or snicker.
Sorrow, anguish, distress and regret too can lead us to smile and laugh albeit giggly.

If you've been ardent you wouldn't wonder why I inscribe this, because once or twice you've had the same experience.

Formerly or beforehand you have found yourself resting or quiescent in a soporific or hypnotic environment,
Far from hustle and bustle of life may be to seize a siesta and invigorate set for another day,
This is the time slumber, will evade you instead you'll find yourself obligating to reminiscence,
The past persist to trouble you, this is the time you chuckle, smile at and with nothing, you've just remembered how at one time you'd been silly, you have just laughed at yourself, "how did I not see that". Too boot belatedly, of course, you had been swindled,

Once, twice, countless, I have laughed or smiled with my silhouette, not with ecstasy but sorrow.
