So Afraid Poem by Geraldine Fernandez

So Afraid

I’ve never been in love, never been so far
For I know love just causes wound, just causes scar
My mind flies in dreamland to rummage answers afar
It hopes against hopes, tries and tries reaching for eternal star.

Lachrymal constantly pours down my cheeks
For a sensible reason it never cares, never seeks
When eyes close, rain of tears wait in bay
They’ll not cease to stream, lackaday!

Words of love I’m afraid to utter
For the sweetness of it all makes the heart bitter
And lips that quiver whenever I call his name
Falter with the knowledge that he’ll never feel the same.
