So I Am Calm In Wondering Poem by Rebekah Gamble

So I Am Calm In Wondering

Inside me, there is fire.
I know this, because I remember it.
I used to believe in things.
It is cold as I sit out the night on my doorstep.
Th cold helps me not to feel
quite so bad.
The sky is like oceans,
deep and dark,
reaching down it's fingers to me,
touching me with the cold and silence
so I feel a little piece of calm.
The land is speaking.
It's voices change colors
and sink into eternity
as they radiate from the hills
and the river.
Breath is sweeping out from the stones
and the moon light reflects on white pebbles
like stars in the gravel of grey.
It is like the gifted in the ordinary,
although I think the ordinary
are actually the sparking white pieces.
The gifted are grey,
always ignored or forgotten.
The sound of the sky keeps me quiet
as I look at the ordinary,
and wonder why so many worry
about the time after death
and forget about the time before birth.
