So Like Sulphur Poem by ash 13ftfall

So Like Sulphur

Rating: 5.0

I hear your words, raspy whispers that hang there in the late night air.
It’s so dark on this cloudy night that I can barely see your blackish outline against the shadows.
The smell of tears and dinner onions linger just below our sweat, salty and bitter.
I want this to stop. I need you to say something different. We’re trapped in this midnight never finding a dawn.

And to me those words are as hard as brick and mortar stacking one
by
one
between us.

And to me your excuses spew like sulphur into the blackness.
That pungent stench clenching on my esophagus choking me to almost airless.
I want to ignite the orange and yellow, burning away the acidic cloud
light the night
with the truth buried in your lies.
But we hang here
too full of pain to let go
too full of regret to hold on
too full of ourselves
to find each other again.

Into the darkness
the sulphur smell
fills our last night
and I will always
remember
you just
like
now.
