So You Sit Poem by Stacey Williams

So You Sit

Sit on my chest,
No beating,
No fleeting,
No wine to put you to rest.

So I gaze at you,
Stare deep in your blue eyes,
No weeping,
No sleeping,
From me you can't disguise.

You're an old emotion,
I'm surprised you returned to soon,
Arrive unannounced,
From the darkness you pounced,
Just around the corner you loomed.

And so you look back,
Right into my heart,
You reach under my skin,
And stir what's within,
To feel the split that's part.

How can I detest you?
One with such an innocent smile,
It's not your fault you sit here,
It's not you that i fear,
It's what comes after this mile.

You are the first stage,
One I wish to hold,
Comfort you little one,
Hold onto me, I'll stay strong,
I'll stay with you, whatever unfolds.

I carry you through life,
Through darkness and through light,
Do not quiver,
I shall deliver,
I shall lead us through the night.

So stay with me,
My little sorrow.
I will be you,
I will free you,
If I have to beg, steal or borrow.
