Sober - Poem by Ray Andrews

Sober, you can feel the texture
Of a mood, and know the nuances
Of a happy day or sunny sky

Sober, you can flourish
In the stream of life, and
Languish in it's healing waters

Sober sets the stage for sensing
Love and holding
Someone's heart in your hands

Sober, you're like a cat with big
Whiskers, knowing by feel and instinct
The necessities for survival

Sober is not a somber undertaking. In sobriety
True joy and happiness lurk in every day,
In every hour, in every flower and every way

Sober opens the door to wonders-
Drunk keeps it closed
This is nature's intention
To which many minds are closed
