Socially Constructed Poem by Sergio Bucheli

Socially Constructed

It's sad to say the world is full of possessions,
the crew that you rep,
and the learning from lessons,
Christmas comes up and you don't know what to choose,
A new Xbox or a fresh pair of shoes,
What happened to family and being in their presence?
Now you get mad if they get you the wrong presents?
Socially constructed is just what we are,
We want a perfect society,
but from that we are far,
Presents shouldn't matter,
That is just a bonus,
We are so caught up in asking,
'hey do you own this? '
It's cold and bitter to know what we've become,
' everyone does it.. Could it really be wrong? '
If your answer was 'yes',
You are socially constructed,
Take a good hard look in the mirror,
as your bare hands have construct it,
Just to be honest, not cruel or bitter, the temperature in the room dropped and gave me the shivers,
Is what I'm saying the truth, and that's why it's cold? ,
I'm giving you the hand of guidance,
and it's one you can hold,
We miss the big picture and moral of ideas,
What would the older generations think, if they see us?
Life is not about receiving but what you can give,
if you gave me a choice that's the life i would live,
Sharing is caring, or so it is said, if a man was hungry, I would give him my bread,
In the back of my mind,
I wouldn't think twice,
Socially constructed or not,
That's just me being nice.
My morals will probably start to kick in, not feeding a hungry man,
That might be a sin,
A lot of you wouldn't and I don't know why,
wouldn't you feel worse if the man had died?
This story isn't about a man and the bread he eats,
Understand, love is warming,
like winter socks at your feet,
socially constructed is just what we became,
its sad to see the big picture
because overall it's a shame.
