Soldier's Christmas Night Poem by Drae Paul

Soldier's Christmas Night

Rating: 5.0

(Free Verse)

I can't wait to go home
to see my daughter Shiana,
I got a letter from Rome
Which was unlikely to be Diana

I live in a house where it is dreary,
all my friends has passed away, and I will too, I can see it clearly.
My life is such a disorder,
and does not look like an Australian Soldier.

I wonder how many live alone
On a Christmas night, in a mysterious land far from home.
My soul is for freedom and don't question me more,
all I can think of is, leaving this vicious war.

I earned medals and badges, awards of all kinds,
just to realise these things are to rune minds.
I protect my country day and night,
and I will fight until the end, as I have the rights.

I will serve for my country,
until I am in the sematary.
